As a Technical Author/Technical
Writer/Technical Communicator, I’d like to believe that apart from churning out
reams of documentation and striving to make help, more helpful−using
different mediums, tools, technologies, social Media platforms−it
is our prerogative to reduce the need for help, increase user adoption, enhance
user experience, optimize application usability and polish the information
architecture. I know that this is a big chunk out of usability, but with
companies cutting costs, would it bode well for the Technical Writers to
familiarize themselves with the skills needed to achieve the value adds
mentioned above?
